IT Help Desk / Operations Manager (Posted 09/29/2008)

The Operations Manager’s role is to oversee the IT Operations staff, ensure that end users are receiving the appropriate assistance, supervise and ensure the efficient operation of the company’s network, client servers, databases, and equipment. This includes the responsibility of managing all procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user help requests, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of Help Desk functions. The Help Desk Manager will also contribute to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to end users at the desktop level. This includes managing the IT staff responsible for monitoring and diagnosing network and hardware problems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Monitor IT Help Desk application, ServiceDesk Plus, and respond to requests for service and support. Perform hardware installation and support of NetStar-1 IT assets including personal computers, peripheral devices, network printers, servers and other computing devices. Perform software installation and support of NetStar-1 IT assets including Microsoft operating systems, personal productivity suite applications, ERP applications and other software. Input and maintain IT asset inventory. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft desktop operating systems including Windows XP and Windows Vista. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite personal productivity applications. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft server operating systems including Windows Server 2003. Knowledge of and experience with x86 architecture personal computers (laptops and desktops) and common peripherals such as printers, scanners, monitors, etc. Understanding of common networking implementations and protocols, i.e. Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc. Job duties include travel to NetStar-1 facilities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and surrounding environs.

Help Desk Specialist (Posted 09/10/2008)

Summary of Duties: Resolves technical problems and answers queries by telephone in support of internal and/or outside customer computer hardware, software, network, and telecommunications systems; Diagnoses, identifies, isolates and analyzes problems utilizing historical database records; May route calls to product line specialists; Maintains and updates records and tracking databases; Alerts management to recurring problems and patterns of problems. Responsibilities: Limited supervision. No instructions are needed on routine work and only general instructions are given on new lines of work or special assignments. Independently performs non-routine and moderately complex assignments. Researches assignments, processes, and analyzes data and may develop recommendations. Competently uses computers and other systems to access, maintain and manipulate data. Experience with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with remote tools such as Dameware, Remote Desktop, and NetMeeting. Supporting of proprietary applications: Intranet Quorum and Capitol Letters. Will be trained on the applications, but it is the sole responsibility of the employee to retain the information.

Systems / Network Engineer (Posted 09/10/2008)

Location: Maryland (it covers three cities). The overall APG tasks involve writing technical network documents for the next month and a half and then swinging into configuring/staging/site testing and System Acceptance testing of some 30 switches that are mostly of the Cisco 6500 class. The major qualifications are the ability to write well technically along with 6500 switch experience to satisfactorily configure/stage/site test the network described above.

The Project Manager is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the project and to this end will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, verifying technical tasks and monitoring and summarizing progress of the project. The Project Manager may be responsible for more than one project at a time.
